Vietnam - Phu Quoc

The last leg of our Vietnam journey saw us stay a three nights at Chez Carole in Phu Quoc and if you were looking for a place where you find relaxation, idyllic accommodation and picture postcard scenery, then this is it.

Chez Carole resort is about a 20 minute drive from Phu Quoc airport and is secluded with nothing but nature surrounding it which is perfect after a very busy stay at Ho Chi Min. The food and beverage they offered was superb and at a very reasonable price too. The first night was dinner by the sea. The table was on the beach!

We wouldn't ask for more. Oh, below is a side shot of our balcony and the view we woke up to each morning.

We spent the first day relaxing around the resort before venturing out further to the town and most notably, the market. A word of warning though, they do like to hike up the prices to us foreigners however, you can bargain down to a more reasonable level.

For dinner, we went to one of the local restaurants at the market and we tried Sea Urchin for the first time. It didn't really taste of anything apart from the nut garnish but it's something that has to be done. For the mains, we went for the local fish.

We embarked on a tour of the island which took us to one of the pagodas, the Phu Quoc prison, a pepper farm, a honey factory, another factory where fish sauce is made, and more I can't remember at the moment.

To sum up Vietnam, it is a wonderful country to visit which offers everything you could wish for if you travel enough. I couldn't pick a favourite place as each has it merits and I am glad we tried all aspects of life but I do hope you do take something from this series in your future travels.
